How Today's Best Junior Points are Calculated for 2010

Every month, on or about the 20th, I receive the American Kennel Club Awards Disk from the American Kennel Club. This report contains every kennel club that had a junior show entry with classes and placements listed for the past month. From this report I extract all our statistics. Please allow 6-7 days for me to process the statistics and update the website.

Described below is how each category is derived and the particulars involved with each group.

Exception to Note: Limited/Invitational Junior Competitions WILL NOT be counted for 2010 statistics (Any show that the AKC Events/Results lists as a Limited Competition) A separate ranking will be kept of Limited Points.  In the Limited Ranking the following will apply: 1st placements are counted for all Limited/Invitational Junior Showmanship Competition EXCEPT Westminster Kennel Club and the AKC/Eukanuba Invitational Show where the AKC lists 1-4th placements. This is how the AKC Awards Disk displays the results and this is how I will also count the number defeated.

CORRECTIONS: All statistical corrections for Jan'10 - Dec'10 must be made before January 30, 2011, after which time, no adjustments will be made on the 2010 standings. Thank you.

Here is the link to the AKC site to check show results.  Just type in the show, or change the time range to the whole month and hit search. There is no excuse to not keep track of your show record, as the AKC has updated the Junior Show results to show individual class entry and total junior entry. This will ensure accurate statistics for year-end rankings.

The events search uses the same data base from which our AKC Awards Disk report is derived, so any errors in the results will be carried over to my report.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH INDIVIDUAL JUNIOR TO MAINTAIN THEIR OWN SHOW RECORD and not rely solely on Today's Best Junior to do this for you.
